
GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) was declared as the Winning Power Supplier for the 300-MW of Manila Electric Company’s (MERALCO) 1,800-MW supply requirement for their growing roster of customers and as preparation for the projected power peak demand during dry season. The Notice of Award has been officially given to GNPD on January 30, following the Post Qualification Process and subsequent approval from MERALCO’s Board of Directors on January 29, 2024.
Recognized as the largest power distribution utility company in the Philippines, MERALCO held their scheduled Bid Submission Deadline and Opening of Pre-Qualification Documents Submissions (Qualification Documents and Technical Proposals) last January 5, 2024, of which only four from the original six bidders expressed interest to participate. GNPD offered the lowest total levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) rate of Php 6.8580 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for 300-MW of the total requirement.
Alongside GNPD, two other subsidiaries from the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) won the bid: Mariveles Power Generation Corporation (MPGC, and Excellent Energy Resources Inc. (EERI). MPGC offered the second lowest rate at Php 6.9971 per kWh for another 300-MW supply, and EERI put in the bid for the biggest 1,200-MW supply at P7.1094 per kWh.
